Urban Outfitters is a lifestyle brand catering to the fashion needs of both men and women. In this post, we will go over how to find an Urban Outfitters style number for your clothing item.
These strategies will work for both men’s and women’s clothing, although Urban Outfitters also sells shoes and home goods, too.
Urban Outfitters is a popular brand that typically has a moderate to high resale value, depending on the piece. This makes it a lucrative find for secondhand shoppers at the thrift, or those looking for a specific Urban Outfitters piece online.
Continue reading for our quick and easy strategies for finding an Urban Outfitters style number. This will help you with finding style names, plus the exact item you’re looking for.
Price Tag
The first place to look for an Urban Outfitters style number, if possible, is the price tag. If the item is still new and has the tag attached, the style number and name may already be there.
The style number includes the letters "OB" plus a combination of numbers behind it. Alternatively, the style name may be present on the tag.
Either way, enter “Urban Outfitters” into a Google search bar, followed either by the Urban Outfitters style number or name, and click enter.
After that, you should see results, including pictures, of your Urban Outfitters item.
Care Tag
The care tag on clothing items includes multiple helpful pieces of information. It will include the washing instructions, the material of the item, and most importantly for us, the style number.
So, since it is rare to still have the price tag attached, you can still find the style number by looking on the care tag. In order to find this, slip your hand inside of the garment. The care tag will typically be found along a side seam.
Once you find the care tag, look for the same letter and number combination from earlier: "OB" followed by a series of numbers. On Urban Outfitters items, the style number comes after the “Batch#”.
Once you find the style number, input it into a Google search bar. For my item's example seen above, I typed “OB854731” into the search bar, hit enter, and the item appeared. I was able to find out that my dress is the Urban Outfitters Coraline Dress.
If the style name does not come up by just entering the style number, try putting “Urban Outfitters” with the style number. If that still does not work, input the type of clothing item (ex. Dress, shirt, pants).
Make sure you also toggle over to “Images” to look through the Google Images if they do not already appear on your search screen.
Google Reverse Image Search
Sometimes you will find a clothing item that does not have a price tag or care tag. Sometimes the care tags can be bothersome, so they may be removed from the clothing item by yourself or a previous owner.
However, we still have a couple of ways to find a clothing item without the tags. The first way is by using Google Lens, also known as Google Reverse Image Search. For our iPhone users, you have to download the Google app.
For our non-iPhones, you can download the Google Lens app straight from the app store. Alternatively, this method will work on any laptop or desktop computer.
First, you’ll need a picture of the item. If you’re on a web browser, right-click on the picture and click “Search image with Google”. This will pull up visual results in a sidebar.
If you are using your phone, find the picture in your gallery. Go to the picture settings, and tap “Search with Google Lens.” This will also yield visual results that Google thinks match your image.
I usually have a lot of success with this method. It is especially valuable while at the thrift store trying to find items.
All you have to do is snap a quick picture, and you can find a wealth of information about the item in just a few seconds.
Keyword Descriptors
If all of your tags are gone, and if the Google Lens method didn’t work, all hope is not yet lost! This time, type out a short description of the item. Use keyword descriptors including the brand, color, style, material, pattern, and other highlighting features.
Sticking with our same dress example, I searched “urban outfitters v neck wrap dress”. In this scenario, the item did not show up automatically.
I first had to click on a similar-looking dress in a different color, which ultimately led me to the item.
This method of finding an Urban Outfitters style number and Urban Outfitters style name can require a little more investigation. However, it can be well worth it if you find exactly what you’re looking for!
Now that we’ve gone over three different valuable ways to find an Urban Outfitters style number, it’s time to put these skills to the test!
Use it to either find your favorite Urban Outfitters piece, or beef up your reselling business listing to sell your item on a secondhand marketplace.

I have the about 20 tags that I am trying to match up with items which were stolen. I searched with style number and got nothing.

Hey Veronica! Sorry to hear you're not coming across your items. I would suggest inputting "Urban Outfitters dress OBXXXXX" to see if anything else pops up.
Otherwise, I would try the Google lens or keyword descriptors method to try and find your items. Let me know how that goes!
