Patagonia is a popular outdoor gear and clothing company. If you’re a fan of this brand, you may be wanting to know how to find a Patagonia style number.
If so, you've come to the right place! Maybe you have a specific known and loved Patagonia item and you’re trying to find another just like it.
Or, maybe you seriously scored at the thrift store and found a Patagonia item, and you’re needing to find the style number and stock photos for your online listing. No matter the reason, we’ve got you covered!
In this post, we will go over 4 different strategies to find a Patagonia style number with real examples. After reading this, you’ll be able to find your style number in no time.
Jump to:
Patagonia Brand Tag
If you are fortunate enough to still have the price tag on your Patagonia item, this will be the first place to look for the style number. The brand tag will actually have many important pieces of information: both the style number and the style name, along with the color, original price, and size.
As you can see in the example below, this brand tag states “M’s Pack In P/O Hoody.” When I type this into Google, it leads me to the Men’s Patagonia Pack In Pullover Hoody.
Here, you can find product listings, stock photos, and listings on secondhand marketplaces like Poshmark and eBay. This may help you end your style number search here.
However, let’s also go over how to find the style number on the Patagonia brand price tag. When you’re looking for the style number, scan for a 5-digit numerical code.
In this example, it is to the left of the barcode. It reads “20895.” If you take this number and input it into Google, it will also yield results for the Patagonia Pack In Pullover Hoody.
However, many times you will not have the price tag attached still. If that is the case, we still have more quick and easy options for you to find your Patagonia style number.
Patagonia Inner Tag
The next place to look for your Patagonia style number is on the inside of the garment. We’ll stick with coat examples here, but later on, we will go over examples for dresses and shorts.
On tops, hoodies, coats, and jackets, you will look at the inside seam. The tags that you’re trying to locate will be on the lefthand seam (as if you’re wearing the jacket). Patagonia has what seems like a booklet of tags attached to the inside seam.
Flip through all of these tags to the very back tag. It will be a small, square tag. This is where your style number, along with the production date and color code can be found.
Again, look for the 5 digit code because this will be your style number. This time, it’s hidden in between the letters “STY” in front and the date code, “FA22”, in the back.
Here, you can see the same style number, “26870.” Search this number in Google and sift through the results to find the item that you’re looking for.
With this example, I found this coat when I was shopping around while selling at Plato's Closet. I purchased it, looked up the style number, and was able to find out that it is the Nano Puff Parka.
I purchased this coat for $28, and was able to resell it for over $150 with my online reselling business! But enough on that, let's get back to style numbers.
Patagonia Bottoms Style Number
In order to find the style number of your Patagonia bottoms, look on the inside of the waistband. You will see the same packet of tags. This time, the style number will be located in two different places.
Both on the second to last and last tag have the style number listed. In this example, the style number is “57041” and you can see it was produced in Spring 2016.
Patagonia Dress Style Number
The tag for this Patagonia dress looks a little different when compared to the tag of the jacket and shorts that we went over earlier. That is because it is an older style of Patagonia item. However, the principles remain the same.
This time, the style number is located after where it says “ITEM.” It is still a 5-digit numerical code. This dress style number is 75526 and it was produced in the spring of 2012.
Google Lens
As we just discussed, Patagonia has a booklet of tags on the inside of their garments. This means the tags may get cut off by the wearer due to the annoyance factor.
If this is the case, you can still find your Patagonia style number another way. With this method, you will take a picture of your Patagonia item.
You can do this either on your smartphone camera or in either the Google Lens or Google app. If you take a picture on your smartphone, go into the picture settings and select “Search with Google Lens.”
If you decide to use the Google app, look for the camera symbol on the right of the Google search bar. Once you select that, you will be in Google Lens and can snap a picture of your item.
After you search the image, you should start to see results that match your Patagonia item. It may lead you to the brand website or to a secondhand marketplace.
On either site, you will likely be able to click around and find a style name and/or number. One caveat is that this method does not always work for more plain items, like a solid color pullover, for example.
That is why we still have one more option for finding a Patagonia style number.
Keywords
Keeping with our same example, let’s try to find my Patagonia Pack In Pullover Hoody pretending like the brand tag and style number tag were removed.
In order to do this, I performed a Google search for “Patagonia men’s color block hoody.”
As you can see, this was able to pull up my Pack In Pullover Hoody, along with other closely related items. For this style number lookup strategy, try to describe the unique details of the item, along with the necessary and obvious details.
For example, it’s important to note that it is a men’s item. It is also important to note that it is a hoody. One unique portion of the jacket is that it is a two-tone color block style pattern.
For your Patagonia item, try to evaluate the pattern, color, print, style, and other unique factors that differentiate the item.
And with that, you have 4 new tricks up your sleeve to help you locate your Patagonia style number!
