What is a Jordan Style Number?
Before we get into how to find a Jordan style number, let’s go over what a Jordan style number is. A Jordan model number is a unique code given to each pair of shoes.
Jordan style numbers are always a 6-digit numerical code. That’s right, no matter what model or release of shoe, you can identify your pair of Jordans with a 6-digit number.
As you could guess, this is an identical sequence as Nike style numbers. So now that we know exactly what we’re looking for, let’s go over where to look when it comes to finding your Jordan style number.
Style Number With Jordan Inner Tag
Go ahead and grab your pair of Jordans if you don’t already have them in front of you. For this step, we will be looking at the inside of your pair of shoes.
Specifically, look to the inner tongue of the shoe.

Here, you should see a white tag. At the top, you will see the Jordan logo. On the next line down, you will see the size of the shoe.
The line underneath that is the one we’re looking for. This line includes the date of production, and more importantly, your style number!
Here you will see the 6-digit numerical code. It may be followed by a dash and three more numbers, but focus on just the first 6 numbers before the dash.
For example, it may read, “834276-001.” The Jordan style number for this pair of shoes is “834276.”
Once you have your style number, input it into a Google search to find out more information about the item. For example, type “Jordan 834276.”
You should start to see results populate that resemble your exact Air Jordan item. When I searched the style number mentioned above, I was able to find out that my Jordans are the Air Jordan 2 Retro Alternate 87.
Using The Jordan Shoe Box
In addition, you can also use your original Jordan shoe box if you still have it. Your Jordan shoe box will list the style name of the item.
You can use the style name to search for your item, find an online listing that matches your item, and ultimately locate your Jordan model number that way. Although, it is typically easier to use the exact style name if you have it.

For example, when I search the Jordan style name “Air Jordan 11 Retro Low” I am able to find out that the style number of this item is "528896."
Using Google Image Search
Sometimes the original box has been recycled, and the shoes are so loved that the information on the inner tag has been rubbed off. If that’s the case, you may feel like you do not have a way to find your Jordan style number.
However, I have one more quick and easy trick up my sleeve to help you find your Jordan model number. This involves using Google Reverse Image Search.
To do this, first make sure you have either the Google app or Google Lens app downloaded onto your phone. Next, take a picture of your Jordan sneakers.
Ideally, take a picture of just one of the shoes with a full picture of the side of the shoe. You can set this up by laying the shoe on its side, flat on the ground. From here, take a picture from the top-down or overhead view.
Following this, either upload the picture to the Google Lens app or go into the settings for the picture and select “Search With Google Lens.”

After this step, you should start to see visual results populate that match your Jordan sneakers. It may even have the exact style name already recognized and populated.
You may see results from the Nike or Jordan website itself, or on secondhand marketplaces like Poshmark or eBay. Either way, with this method, you’ll be able to find out the style number and additional information on your Jordan item.
Now that you have a few methods for identifying your Jordans, it’s time to put them to good use. Best of luck with your Jordan style number hunting!
