If you’re a physical therapist, you’re probably wondering if a Lululemon physical therapist discount exists. As a physical therapist myself, this is a question that I wanted to get to the bottom of.
As a doctoring healthcare profession focused on exercise and rehabilitation, it makes sense that physical therapists would be included in the healthcare discount, right?
Unfortunately, it seems there may be more to the story. In this post, we will go over if physical therapists are included in the Lululemon healthcare discount, all of the ways to qualify for Lululemon discounts, and more!

Do Physical Therapists Get A Lululemon Discount?
Unfortunately, at this time, physical therapists do not qualify for a healthcare discount at Lululemon. Physical therapists do not qualify under their military and first responder discount.
I attempted to apply for the healthcare discount using my physical therapist license, but I was denied. However, keep reading to see how I ended up qualifying for an even better Lululemon discount in a roundabout way.
Why Are Physical Therapists Not Included?
It is unclear why physical therapists are not included in Lululemon’s healthcare discount. When I reached out to the company, I was unable to obtain a clear answer as to why.
As a doctoring profession, physical therapists work in a variety of settings with the primary goal of rehabilitation and improving quality of life. Many interventions are used, but exercise is at the heart of the profession.
After all, this aligns with Lululemon’s mission to promote movement, wellness, and exercise in their comfortable and stylish clothing. Due to this, I feel it is appropriate for physical therapists to qualify for this discount.
However, there are other opportunities to receive a Lululemon discount even if you can’t receive one as a physical therapist. We’ll dive into this next.
Who Gets A Lululemon Discount?
Military and First Responders
As a part of Lululemon’s military and first responder discount, the following professionals receive a 15% discount at Lululemon:
- Member of the military (active, reserve, veteran, retired, plus spouses and dependents of active military)
- Firefighters
- Law enforcement
- Search and rescue
- EMT’s
- Medical doctors
- Licensed nurses
To verify these credentials, Lululemon utilizes a third-party service, SheerID. That means, unfortunately, there is little to no way around this verification process to receive a healthcare worker discount.
Members Of The Lululemon Sweat Collective
Another special interest group, known as the Sweat Collective, receives an even better discount: 25% off at Lululemon.
The following groups qualify for this discount:
- Group fitness instructors
- Personal trainers
- Gym owners
- Athletes
- Coaches
- Team staff
Within these groups, most require proof in order to verify your credentials. This proof includes, but is not limited to, a paystub, certificate, work schedule, or an online coaching profile.
To qualify as an athlete, you must be 18 years of age or older and play at the Professional, University, or National/International level of your sport.
In order to receive the discount as a coach, you must coach a professional club, or a Professional, University, or National/International team. The team must have athletes that are 18 years of age or older.
Similarly, to qualify as team staff you must be the team manager, strength and conditioning coach, or athletic trainer at one of the levels mentioned above.
How I Qualified For A Lululemon Discount
As I was looking through the criteria to qualify for the Lululemon Sweat Collective, I noticed the first line: group fitness instructors and personal trainers.
As an acute care physical therapist (read more about me!), I take patients through exercise programs as a part of my evaluation and treatment sessions.
Therefore, I thought I’d go ahead and give it a shot and apply for the Sweat Collective. The application process took just a few minutes.
You have to fill out personal information like your name, address, contact information, and the type of classes you teach. When it came to the type of classes I teach, I selected “Other” and typed in “rehabilitation.”
Following this, the application asks for a valid ID and paystub or work schedule. I uploaded my driver’s license and my most recent pay stub from my hospital system paycheck.
The verification process took about 20 minutes, and to my surprise, I was approved for the Sweat Collective!
So as you can see, it is worth the few minutes to apply and see if you will be accepted. Plus, you score an even better discount (25%) than the current military and first responder discount (15%).
Modifying The Healthcare Discount
Although a specific Lululemon physical therapist discount does not exist, and physical therapists are able to receive a discount in another way, there is still a principle that matters. It is my belief that physical therapists should be recognized and included appropriately.
In order to inspire change and include deserving healthcare professionals, I encourage you to reach out to Lululemon yourself.
I’ve created a form letter base for you to copy, paste, modify, and send to Lululemon support as you see fit. I’ve included different prompts for various settings of physical therapists.
Let’s stand together and add strength in numbers in order to hopefully change this narrative!
Lululemon Physical Therapist Discount Form Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to you regarding the exclusion of physical therapists from Lululemon’s healthcare worker discount. As a doctor of physical therapy, I work with patients daily in order to promote health, wellness, exercise, and overall quality of life.
Outpatient PT
I work as an outpatient physical therapist rehabilitating athletes in order to help them return to the sport that they love.
Acute Care PT
As an acute care physical therapist, I rehabilitate adults in the hospital in order to help them regain strength and quality of life. I work alongside others, including medical doctors and licensed nurses, who are included in your healthcare professionals discount.
Inpatient Rehab PT
As an inpatient rehabilitation physical therapist, I aggressively rehabilitate patients with severe orthopedic, neurological, and other deficits in order for them to return home safely. In this setting, I am a part of the medical team, including medical doctors and licensed nurses, with the common goal of setting up the patients for success.
Skilled Nursing Facility PT
As a physical therapist at a skilled nursing facility, I assist patients with regaining strength and functional mobility to enhance their quality of life.
Home Health PT
As a physical therapist in the home setting, I help patients improve their functional mobility by assisting with activities of daily living, improving balance, endurance, and strength.
Because of this, I kindly request that you reconsider the inclusion of physical therapists to show your support for this much-needed rehabilitation profession.
Thank you,

Conclusion
Although at this time there is no Lululemon discount for physical therapists, that does not mean this cannot change in the future. In the meantime, hopefully you are able to qualify for the Lululemon discount by another means (like my Sweat Collective trick!).
I hope you’ll join in the mission to keep advancing the profession of physical therapy in general, one store discount at a time.
And if you're a Lulu fanatic, be sure to read our posts on finding a Lululemon style number and reading a Lululemon rip tag.

Ugh I get so annoyed that we don’t get the discount! As an outpatient PT I wear something Lulu EVERYDAY 🤣 I think that’s pretty good advertisement for them!! When you were applying, did your paystub say “Physical Therapy” anywhere? Because mine says “Job title- Physical Therapist” and I feel like that’s enough to get me rejected… again! Thanks for the input!
Amanda Manera
Isn't it so frustrating?!? You may be onto something with the paystub thing - mine says "therapy services" on it but it does not say "Physical Therapist" directly.
Maybe their system is onto us and filters that term out?! Annoying, but I wouldn't be surprised. What do they have against therapists anyways?! Haha.
Maybe/hopefully you have a therapist buddy that is able to qualify- they send out friends and family codes for us in the sweat collective to share pretty often!

SO ANNOYED! My tech qualified but I cant! It's nuts! I currently provide wellness services and concierge PT in peoples homes. I wear these close daily as my uniform! I contacted support and said all of the above, and they were just plain rude! I went back to try to re apply with your suggestions and it will no longer let me get to that page, I guess they locked it down since she told me no. It redirects me to the main page :/ We should qualify!
Amanda Manera
Ugh, so sorry to hear that Christina. That's so frustrating!! Have you tried from different devices/ browsers? Or by making a new account?
I'm with you- PT's should 100% qualify! I hope they make some much needed changes to their discount programs soon.
I know Athleta offers a discount program and specifically states they include PT's!
Let me know how it goes-

Alexis
Hi! I am also an acute care PT and am trying to join sweat collective, however SheerID came back and said "The job title shown in the document is not eligible for this offer. Please upload a different document." May I ask which documents you uploaded to get accepted?
Amanda Manera
Hey Alexis!
I submitted my paystub from my employer. It seems like they're unfortunately very choosy when it comes to who they accept/ who they don't, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason why.
Sending all my luck!
