Is your Poshmark username needing a refresh? If so, you’re probably wondering how to change your Poshmark username.
Luckily, changing your username on Poshmark is much simpler than you might think. As a Poshmark seller since 2016, and as someone who has changed my Poshmark username and brand identity, I’ve got some valuable tips for you!
One tip even includes a major mistake that I’ll help you avoid altogether. So let’s get started and learn how to change your Poshmark username!
Tips to Consider Before Altering Your Username
Changing your username might seem like a straightforward task, but there are a few crucial things to ponder before you make the switch. Here are some tips to consider:
Username Change Limits
The first and most important point to consider is that Poshmark has a limit on the number of times that you can change your Poshmark username. Users are only able to change their username twice.
That means that when you sign up, you set your username. You can change your username the first time, no problem.
If you’re wanting a new brand refresh or to take your closet in a new direction, go ahead and change your username again.
But now is when you have to be weary: you have now changed your username twice and this will be the username that you are stuck with… forever! This is unfortunately the mistake that I made.
I started out with one username that was related to my personal name. Then, I changed it to a different username to take my name out of the branding.
I thought I knew the direction that I wanted to go, so I changed my username once more to “Elevated_Goods.” However, then my current personal brand, The Resale Doctor, was born.
But now, since I’ve changed my username twice, I am unable to change it again to my current brand. Although this is definitely not the end of the world, it sure is an annoyance for me!
How To Change Your Poshmark Username
To change your Poshmark username, log in to your account on the Poshmark website. It is important to note this can only be done on the Poshmark website, not on the app.
In the top right corner, click on your profile. From here, navigate to your Account Settings in the dropdown menu and select "Account Info." On this page, you can locate the option to update your username.
Click “Change” next to the username bar. You will be sent a verification code text to your phone number on file for security purposes.
Enter your new username, and select “Done.”
As we discussed earlier, keep in mind that usernames are subject to availability and any changes may be permanent, so choose carefully!
Tips For A New Username
So, when considering a new username, think about what makes you special and what sets you apart from others. Are you known for selling one-of-a-kind vintage clothing?
Or do you have a signature style that resonates with your audience? Your username should capture the essence of who you are and what you offer.
For instance, if you specialize in eco-friendly fashion, incorporating words like "eco," "green," or "sustainable" into your username could reinforce your commitment to environmentally conscious products.
Or if you're known for vintage treasures, adding words like "retro," "vintage," or "throwback" can emphasize this aspect of your brand.
Username Availability
As we mentioned, you'll need to check if the new username you want is available. With Poshmark having over 80 million users, with these users changing their username up to twice, you can imagine how many usernames are already taken.
So before you get too into the weeds with picking the perfect username, spend some time seeing what usernames are even available.
You can also consider using special characters and numbers to your username if the one that you want is already taken.
Conclusion
Ultimately, updating your Poshmark user name is an opportunity to solidify your online presence and make a statement about who you are and what you represent within the marketplace.
Take the time to choose a name that resonates with both yourself and your audience, it'll serve as an essential element of your brand identity on this secondhand site.
