Poshmark is an ecommerce platform for buying and selling new and pre loved goods. With any platform with human interaction, there is a potential for spam, harassment, and internet trolls.
Although the negative interactions are typically few and far between, it is wise to know what to do and how to handle it if a problem arises. On Poshmark, a feature to block users is offered for cases like these.
In this post, you will have a step by step guide to clear out the haters and get back to focusing on sales.
Reasons To Block A User
There are many reasons to block a user on Poshmark. With all of the following scenarios, it is up to you personally to decide if it is warranted to block the buyer. So, here is a list of potential reasons to block a buyer on Poshmark.
Harassment
The first and most obvious reason to block someone on Poshmark is for harassment. This can present in many forms on the app, and it can happen fairly often unfortunately.
Users may leave a rude comment on your listing or within the bundle chat. Or, someone may make a request that is unwelcome.
This may look like a user making a request for more pictures that tip toe a line of inappropriateness. The user may also be asking about transactions off of Poshmark. Some users comment asking for pictures to be sent to their Gmail account.
In many cases, this above scenarios are definitely grounds for blocking. In addition to blocking, you may also want to report/delete the comment in order for Poshmark to investigate further and take action on their end as needed.
Return Case
Even though Poshmark technically has a no return policy, there are a few exceptions to that rule. Buyers may submit a return request for an item that arrives not as described.
Sometimes these claims are legitimate, you may have just been moving fast and overlooked a flaw in an item. After all- you’re only human!
However, a buyer return request may not be truthful or fair. The buyer may have damaged the item themselves, or even made a switch - trying to say one of their defective items is the one that you sent them.
I hope that you only work with honest buyers, however this is unfortunately something we cannot control. If you do find yourself in the middle of this situation, you’ll want to know how to win a Poshmark case in review.
After the case is solved, you may want to consider blocking the buyer to protect yourself from this happening again.
Poor Rating
After a sale, your buyer has the opportunity to rate you on Poshmark. The buyer can choose to leave a star rating and/or a text response to provide feedback to the seller.
At times, buyers can become upset with the way the transaction went or how the item arrived. So if a bad star rating/negative review is left in your store, honestly evaluate if you are in the right or if you are in the wrong.
If the buyer presents false information or makes bogus claims, you may want to consider blocking the buyer. However, don’t put too much thought or worry into your bad ratings on Poshmark.
Buyers on Poshmark are only able to see your love notes, which means a 5 star rating with a comment. Buyers are NOT able to see the amount of 1 star or 2 star ratings with whatever negative comments they have accompanying them.
Negative ratings are going to happen. As long as you are doing your best and keeping honest to your inventory, take it off of the chin and keep moving forward. But if it makes you feel better, hit that block button and wipe your hands of it.
Lowball Offers
You knew we had to bring up lowball offers. Anyone selling on Poshmark has had an experience with a lowballer.
If you’re not familiar though, a lowballer is a user that sends an offer offensively lower than the asking price. We’re talking about a $20 offer for an item listed at $100. Or, $100 for an item close to $400.
To some, this may be grounds for an immediate blocking. However, I’m going to try to show this scenario in a different light.
According to a session at PoshFest about the Poshmark algorithm, it was found that 30% of lowball offers resulted in a successful sale if the seller countered the initial offer. So next time you’re frustrated over a lowballer, try to curb your emotions and send a counter offer.
This starts with knowing your inventory, knowing its worth, how to price items accordingly, and knowing your bottom line. With all of the above factors in mind, send an offer back that works with your business and your numbers.
You can also send the buyer a message telling them you have countered your lowest number. However, if the buyer does not respect your open communication and continues to send lowball offers, it may be time to block the user after all.
What Happens When I Block Someone?
After you block a user on Poshmark, they will no longer be able to interact with your closet. This means they will not be able to like, comment, offer, share, or purchase any of your listings.
They will also not be able to follow you. If the user tries to perform any of the above tasks, they will be notified that they have been blocked.
On your end, you are still able to see their closet with all of their listings. You can also still interact with their listings, although I’m not sure why you would want to if you’ve blocked them.

Hi, I have question… can a buyer leaves you rating or review after been blocked? Or, that privilege is suspended with the blocking? Thank you!

Hello!
In this case, the buyer will still be able to leave you a rating for their purchase. The buyer will just not be able to Like, Comment, Make an Offer, Share or Purchase any of your other listings.
Hope this helps!
