How To Clean And Disinfect Shoes From The Thrift Store

Some of the most exciting and high-value finds can be located in the shoe section of thrift shops.

Whether you picked up a pair of athletic shoes, suede shoes, leather shoes, or another type of shoe, you'll learn how to clean them here. 

But first, why should you clean thrift store shoes?

The shoes can come with - Fungal infections - Bacteria - Bad odors

If you're pressed for time, at the bare minimum you should at least use lysol spray or a deodorizing spray.

Once you have more time, gather the supplies on the next slide to clean athletic shoes:

– A basin that fits the shoes – Dish soap or laundry detergent – A toothbrush – Baking soda – Hydrogen peroxide – Bleach spray

First, remove the insoles to clean them. Soak them in soapy water then scrub with the toothbrush.

To clean the rubber sole, use a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste.

Lastly, soak the outsole in the same basin you soaked your insoles in earlier.
